  • (2, peeled and diced.) Carrots
  • (2, diced.) Celery Stalks
  • (2 cloves.) Minced Garlic
  • (2 Tbsp.) Olive Oil
  • (2 Tbsp.) All-Purpose Flour
  • (1 Cup) Beef Broth
  • (1 Cup) Frozen Peas
  • (2 Tbsp.) Tomato Paste
  • (2 tsp) Worcestershire Sauce
  • (1/2 Cup *optional for extra flavor) Red Wine
  • (1 tsp) Dried Thyme
  • (1 tsp) Dried Rosemary
  • (4 Cups) Creamy Mashed Potatoes (prepared in advance with butter and cream)
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • (2 Tbsp.) Butter
  • (2 Tbsp.) Butter
  • Fresh Parsley and Grated Cheddar Cheese for garnish *optional

Directions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.

Add diced onion, carrots, celery, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes until they start to soften. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to combine. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.

Pour in beef broth, stirring constantly until it thickens into a gravy. Add frozen peas, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to a greased baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top. Use a fork to create a decorative pattern. Dot with butter if desired.

Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling bubbles. Garnish with fresh parsley if you like, and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
